Arabic to English Translation

What is the most important thing you want in a translation? Obviously, you need the meaning to be accurately conveyed. You want the grammar to be correct. And you would like it to be rendered in clean, clear prose. Yet many translators fail to deliver even these basics. We have all read translations that are clumsily worded, plagued with grammar and spelling errors, and in some cases nearly indecipherable.

Here for example is the translation of an Arabic text provided by Google:

Reject Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait, Sheikh Salem Abdul Aziz Al Sabah, as his country's decision to lift the currency's peg to the dollar (the dinar) an indication of abandoning its draft monetary unit in the Gulf, and it is the area will remain open in future, after the unification of the currency, to determine the appropriate exchange policies.

He attributed his country's decision to cash morning, the size of the inflation index which hit the country's economy, due to the decline of the dollar, expecting that some of the Gulf states are unable to meet the requirements of a common currency Limits 2010.
As you can see, the computer translation makes no sense at all, and at times borders on the absurd, as in such phrases as "cash morning" and "reject governor". This only goes to show that in the field of translation, at least, there still is no substitute for the human brain!

The Governor of Kuwait's Central Bank, Prince Salim Abdul Aziz Al Sabah declined to comment on his country's decision to stop pegging its currency, the dinar, to the dollar. Referring to its abandonment of the project of a single Gulf Currency, he stated that after the currency union the way would be clear to decide on the appropriate exchange policies.

Prince Sabah attributed his country's decision concerning this monetary matter to record levels of inflation that have affected the economy owing to a fall in the value of the dollar. The move is expected to make it impossible for some Gulf countries to fulfill the requirements for a single monetary union set for around 2010.
